at 30
Josie's 15 month lands on my 30th :) So we celebrated together. We had big plans to go out for dinner, but Josie had an afternoon meltdown, and I had yum dessert waiting for me from a dear friend so we called it a night to be in! Tomorrow will be a different story and we'll enjoy a nice dinner out :) 30, can't believe those numbers sit atop a cake (or pie) for ME. Wow... time... gone in a flash!

Double Trouble
Yesterday, the entire family showed up in the 'hood for one of the last deforestation days (cutting down trees), as the groundbreaking day is quickly approaching for Mimi and Pop's new house. Lucky for me, I have a great excuse to stay nice and warm in the house - I'm the babysitter :) While everyone worked hard outside, I spent most of the day in the kitchen baking and cooking for all the hard working people. Nate and Josie make for such a fun pair, they play really well together, even with the sharing issues. Try as I might though, I couldn't get one perfect "sit and smile" photo of the two of them, but I don't really care because this series of the two of them (Nate giving Josie a choke hold - aka, a hug) are sweeter to me than a perfect cheese!

Sharing, not quite...
Clearly not in the mood to share today :) I'm not sure how to teach sharing or if it's even possible at this age yet, but Josie wanted nothing to do with sharing toys with her cousin today. Things she hadn't played with in months, she found a sudden interest in as soon as Nate wanted to play with them. Luckily Nate is such a sweet boy and was happy to give in and let Josie play as she wished.

New Tastes
I don't do new year's resolutions, but if I was going to claim one this year, it might be to try new recipes and new cooking techniques outside of my norm. Everyone knows any culinary excellence is lost on Ed, but I'd like to think I have a fresh palette to experiment with on Josie. Nothing too crazy, but still I'm having fun finding recipes that will suit her tastes and today was a good start in the recipe experiment department. By the looks of it, I did a pretty good job today... tomorrow's another story ;)! JJ has been loving veggies, snap peas, green beans and carrots among her favorites. To kick things up a notch, I've been adding veggies with some herbs and light seasonings and she continues to love to eat them. We've been on a muffin kick lately too, they're so portable for the babysitter and for lunches - today's recipe was a cinnamon blueberry/raspberry muffin that turned out pretty tasty!

Say "Cheese!"
I'd been a bad mom for quite some time in the tooth brushing department. Several months back I had decided it was time to start brushing that full mouth of teeth, but my enthusiasm petered out after Josie caught on what I was trying to do and made it really difficult to get in there with a brush. Fast forward to last weekend, I had a good look inside her mouth and shock and awe doesn't begin to describe what I saw in there. Suffice to say, we've been on a big tooth brushing kick this last week and I'm so happy to report it's MUCH easier to do now that she'a little older and likes to mimic what I do. I brush my teeth, she brushes hers.
She loves to brush. So much so she has claimed every toothbrush in the house as her own. She takes it to bed with her, in the bathtub, reading books, and even keeps it in hand while eating dinner... must want in handy to brush after eating! We've got the tooth brushing mastered!
