a reinactment of actual events: the Crib Climb

With Ed out of town on business last night, I made sure the house was closed up tight, cats accounted for (they sleep in the basement at night), and everything just so before heading to sleep last night.  I even took some cold meds, for extra measure, and knew I'd sleep great.  Josie and I played all night, she's finally over her cold - and I knew it was going to be a good nights rest for the both of us.

But what to my wondering eyes do I find at my bedside at 1:05 am?  To my absolute shock and amazement - there stood Josie. In the middle of the night. In the dark. Standing next to my bed trying to crawl in. In my cold-medicine-middle-of-the-night-haze, I was dumbfounded as to how she ended up there.  It has been months since her "once" suspected crib climb, but no other explanation!  But what made her do it in the middle of the night, come all the way down stairs and to find me?  I'm still perplexed by it all.

I'm afraid it's true, however, she's mastered the art of crib climbing - I asked her to reinact the events for me this morning.  It's plenty clear, this won't be the last time!

2.5 years

The wee one turned 2.5 just a few days ago, and being so terrible at getting the camera out on these gloomy days - at the first sign of a warm-ish (50 degree) day, I bribed her with some jelly beans to smile for a minute and to take a few shots.

She's been a regular comedian lately, just this morning she told me "It's not bedtime, it's up time!" at 5:00 before the sun even came up.  I don't know that it was exactly funny to me at the time, but it's pretty cute now that I think about it.  I tried to get her to come cuddle in bed with me, it was not my idea of "up time".  She's forgiven however, this is out of her norm and a darn cough has been torturing her, so we're up bright and early today.

It's just crazy interesting watching her vocabularly develop lately. She says things that I have no idea where or how she learned them, so a fine reminder to watch what I say.  Case in point, just last week we went out for a quickie dinner after playing at the park and as she "accidentally" poured and entire cup of milk down the front of her jacket, she exaclaimed "Oh my God!" over and over.  Not my proudest moment as the table two over glared at us, but still funny - I'm more of an "Oh my gosh" sort of person, so I'll blame the babysitter for that one ;)

Garden Ready

blog catch-up....

we're all getting over a cold that's been lingering around our house for at least the last week!

So today we're hanging out in sweats, munchin' on apples, catching up on toons and babysitting our tomato seedlings.

We have big plans for our garden this year, especially with Josie as my tag-a-long green thumb. So I've gotten our family heirloom (literally!) tomato seeds off to a good start and hope all our efforts pay off come late summer!

Not much else :)
