5 months old

Today Josie is 5 months old. At 5 months, she's still as cute as a button and keeps us laughing all day long. In the last month we've introduced a handful of new tastes to her nightly rice cereal. Things like peas and squash are quite tasty, but peaches must taste too tart and her facial expressions tell us so! We're keeping up with several 6oz bottles throughout the day too. We aren't quite sure how many pounds she's up to now, but those snaps on the 3 mo onsies are getting a little tough to snap these days. Looking at what we have in our 6 month sizes here pretty soon...

Play time has changed quite a bit over the last few weeks with Josie showing a lot more interest in her toys. On her belly, reaching for her toys, inspecting and of course tasting anything that will fit in her mouth. She spends hours a day in her exersaucer - but her most favorite pal of all - Mickey Mouse. Mickey Mouse clubhouse on tv, to be exact. When nothing else calms her down, turn on MM clubhouse and watch her eyes dart to the tv and become immediately engrossed in what's going on at the clubhouse today. No other show has quite the same effect. Mom and dad are pretty good at singing along too :)

There has not, however, been any relief in the drool department. Pretty much in a bib all day long! No signs of teeth, just lots and lots of drool. Mama will be quite happy the day we can go without a bib for more than 5 minutes!

Ponytails

We have this collection of hair bows and frills that generally do not work. There are a few exceptions of cute bows that stay put in her hair, but for the most part, if they're cute - they don't say put. On a whim, I bought these cute little ouchless pony holders at the store last night and couldn't resist trying them out today. Hysterically cute if you ask me ;)

Tomorrow Josie will be 5 months old! Still seems like she's been part of our family so much longer than 5 months, and yet, can't believe she's already 5 months.

We've really been keeping busy the last few weeks as we're finishing the bonus room to be Josie's playroom! We're just about there, the carpet will be installed next week. The one spot in the house that will be nice and soft for Josie to crawl around on and get away from the hard floors! We're going to have so much fun in here, and lots of fun decor on its way.

But for the rest of today, this is about all we have on the schedule!

Snow Baby

Today is a delightful almost 60 degrees, the snow is melting before our eyes. Earlier this week, as 2 feet of snow accumulated, we never would have thought it would be gone any time before June! Dad has been wanting photos with Josie on the 4 wheeler and out in the snow today... so that's what we did. Josie took a quick ride with dad and didn't seem to disapprove in the least.

Make that FOUR nights in a row...

of blissful sleep from 8 pm until 8 am! It's been a while since J has had such a sound night of sleep. Must have been a growth spurt or lots of things on that girl's mind. Whatever it was, I'm glad it has passed and we've had 4 fabulous nights of sleep after my breakdown on Saturday night after just about no sleep :)

Thanks Pie!

Running Here and There...

and everywhere it seems. Just busy in general, and the time for photos and blogging has escaped us for a little while. But today was a day for the record books, 2 feet of snow on our small portion of Porter County. We were officially snowed in, well, excpet for dad that plowed his way not only down the driveway, but down the street too. I think the county should reimburse us for doing their job :)

But lucky for us, this made for a day that filled our house with bright light reflecting from the snow. Josie and I made some dessert for dad and caught up on some old shows on the dvr, other than that - a lazy day.
