First Father's Day

I think dad had a pretty great first Father's day! Josie was so thoughtful and got Dad a super cool new tool for working in the yard and a cute card that Josie even signed herself. It was a very hot and humid day, so what else is there to do but chill out in the pool for a bit! Josie loved the pool could have sat in there all day if we had let her :) With Ed still not feeling himself after a rough cold and my eyes still not 100% from my eyeballectomy, it was a pretty low key day until Mimi, Pops and Uncle Adam dropped in for dinner and what a fun time we had :) It was a great surprise that made our day.

Happy Nine Months Josie!

What a great time of year to be 9 months old! Just as Josie is getting to be more mobile, the weather is beautiful for us to spend lots of time outside. Today, on her 9 month birthday we put her in her bathing suit for the first time. We're going to blow up her kiddy pool later today and chill out in this hot weather!

At nine months, J is crawling at lightening speed and pulls her self up in a flash! She's walking along the edge of the fireplace and couch, but hasn't really let go yet to test her balance. I don't think it will be long before she takes her first steps all on her own! This month we finally got the baby gates installed at the top and bottom of the stairs, so it's a nice freedom she has to crawl around while mama gets chores done.

We're also proud to say, sleeping through the night SOLID for the last 4 weeks. Not a single wake for a pacifier or anything at all. Down for bed by 8pm and out like a light, all on her own. We're so proud of our big girl and her great sleeping habits! She's still a great napper - at least 3 naps a day around 10, 2 and 6

Her latest talents include waving, especially when you say buh-bye. She now understands a game of "I'm gonna get you" b/c now she crawls in a scurry in the other direction laughing as she goes. And we also think Mimi taught J peak a book - and it's pretty darn cute. OH! And last but not least... tooth #3 made its appearance today :) Upper right!

Afternoon Naps

She's the sweetest little nugget right after a nap. The afternoon nap is usually at least an hour and she's happy as could be after waking... ready to get up and get going again. I snapped this right after her afternoon nap, all cuddly and sweet... and happy to smile at the camera. The drool is still an every moment of every day sort of nuisance... but pretty cute if you ask me!

Look what Mimi taught her...

Ever since Josie spent the day with Mimi, we've caught several moments of thumb sucking. Just when we thought we were free and clear of any thumb sucking habit....

Sigh... poor girl, I remember the days being told I was too old to be sucking my thumb, such a hard habit to break... with any luck she'll grow out of it much earlier than I did!

So Sleepy.

Too much play, almost forgot to nap! It's a sure sign of a fun day when Josie doesn't even make it out of the highchair for nap time. Oatmeal and puffs still stuck to her face, I did a quick wipe down and took her to her crib, where she slept for a good couple hours before getting up ready to play again :) What a sweet pea!

Josie vs. The Cats

It's certainly a love love relationship - the cats surprisingly do adore Josie! I can tell by the way that Emmie sits with us during Josie's bedtime bottle. Emmie enjoys sleeping in the baskets under Josie's crib - she is Josie's protector - yet, keeps her distance from the screeching and reaching for a handful of fur. Ernie, on the other hand, is Josie's playmate. Ernie hangs out like a bump on a log, usually not far from where Josie is hanging out. This often ends with Josie having a handful of fur, but Ernie could careless - goofy cat.

I wouldn't say Josie is a cat lover per say, she's an animal lover most certainly! It's just that the cats are in her daily view and provide her endless entertainment. J might be engrossed in eating dinner, or playing with her toys, but if a cat walks by - the pointing, screeching of delight and attention is immediately shifted to what the cats are up to. Ed would swear Josie says "kitty cat", and while I'm not completely convinced she's even developmentally capable of making the association or even that many syllables together at once, it's pretty darn convincing when she does it!
